About Animal House
The Animal House Unit provides researchers with different experimental animals and guides them to apply experimental animal protocols to ensure safety and control methods. The unit provides assisting in making animal models (surgical and chemical), injection, dosing, providing infectious tubes and taking the required samples.
The Animal House Unit is equipped with an operating room where surgical operations are performed and preparatory capabilities such as ; anesthesia, before and after surgical operations care room. Also, There are two laboratories for animal experiments classified as the second and third safety levels.
Tasks
- Provides all kinds of pure strains of experimental animals (mice, rats, hyrax, hamsters, rabbits) for researchers, postgraduate students, joint supervision, higher institutes, and colleges in the western region.
- Renewing animals generations, propagating them, and health caring by using the intensive breeding program.
- Providing large experimental animals such as: sheep, monkeys and dogs and assuring their health status before research .
- Providing professional advice in experimental animal feild.
- Developing policies, implementing laws and ethics of experimental animals, in accordance with local and international laws and regulations regarding the use and handling of experimental animals.
- Participation in experimental animals training courses .
- Providing surgical and preparatory capabilities, anesthesia and post-surgical care.
- Supplying experimental animals to all diagnostic laboratories.
- Therapeutic and emergency medical intervention during animal experiments.

provides imaging and pathological imaging services for Computerized Tomography (CT) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans

Includes a number of specialized devices that measure animal behavior, such as the muscular grip strength scale, the Morris maze, and others
Tissue Culture
Tissue processing , fixing , cutting paraffin-fixed tissues and making hematoxylin and eosin stains for these tissues
