تقوم الوحدة بإجراء الاختبارات التشخيصية والأبحاث في جميع جوانب الأمراض المعدية، بما في ذلك التحاليل الوبائية، وأنظمة الإشراف ومراقبة الناقلات البيولوجية، وأنشطة المكافحة، والبحوث التطبيقية للحد والقضاء على العبء الناجم عن الأمراض السارية في المملكة.
