نطاق أبحاث علم الأعصاب والشيخوخة واسع ليشمل جميع الأفكار البحثية الممكنة والتي يمكن أن تساعد في تفسير الحالات الطبية لتلبية الاحتياجات الطبية وإنشاء علاجات أو إجراءات أو تشخيصات طبية جديدة.
تركز أبحاث الوحدة التجريبية على ترجمة الدراسات من سرير المريض إلى طاولة المختبر حيث صممت لفهم وتحسين النتائج الصحية. تهتم وحدة أبحاث علم الأعصاب والشيخوخة كثيراً بالدراسات الفسيولوجية، السلوكية والجزيئية بالإضافة إلى علم الأدوية لتقدير فعالية وسلامة التدخلات العلاجية المختلفة.
