Regenerative Medicine Unit
The unit is divided into two groups: Cancer biology and therapeutics and a regenerative medicine. Cancer biology and therapeutics and a regenerative medicine are sub-groups of the unit interested in how cancer develops and progresses through understanding the mechanisms underlying key processes such as cell growth, tumour metabolism, and tumour immunity.
The unit is also interested in the study of cancer stem cells; a small population of cells characterised by self-renew ability to replenish the growing cancer and resistance to therapeutics such as chemotherapy. The regenerative medicine is focused on regenerative medicine and tissue engineering technology for the modelling and treatment of chronic diseases.
Research Areas
- Cardiovascular diseases.
- Cancer cells.
