Invitation to Volunteer in a Research: "How Obesity is Linked to Diabetes?"
|
Volunteers are needed to better understand the association.
We are inviting all 18-30 year old adults (both men and women) to take part in this scientific research study supported by King Abdulaziz University, and approved by the Ethics Committee of King Abdulaziz University Hospital.
- Physical examination and all tests are free but no payments are made to participate.
- Pregnant women and people who have used antibiotics in the last two months are excluded from the study.
Purpose of the research:
We all know that obesity is associated with diabetes and is considered a major risk factor. However, the precise mechanisms behind the transition from obesity to diabetes are not well understood. This study will provide valuable information to understand the transition and prevent diabetes development.
Procedure:
We will ask you questions about your age, dietary habits, physical activity, smoking habits and medicine use (if any). Your height, weight, waist, blood pressure and skin autofluorescence will be measured. An appointment will be made to collect a 12-hour fasting blood and urine sample at King Abdulaziz University Hospital. All of this will not take more than fifteen minutes, and will be done under medical supervision.
All information is strictly confidential.
